JUST IN: Plateau Assembly gets new speaker, deputy

The Plateau State House of Assembly has elected a new speaker and deputy speaker to steer the legislative body forward following the resignations of the previous speaker and deputy speaker.

Honourable Gabriel Dawang, the member representing Pankshin North, was elected speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

Similarly, Honourable Timothy Dantong representing Riyom constituency also got the nods of his colleagues for the deputy speaker position at the assembly.

Glonat Newsonline earlier reported that the former speaker of the House of the Assembly, Honourable Moses Thomas Sule, resigned his position.

The deputy speaker, Honourable Gwottaon Fom, has also resigned his position.

The decision, many say, may not be unconnected with the sacking of Governor Caleb Mutfwang and some PDP lawmakers in the state assembly by the court.
