Sharia Law: Woman remanded for hitting husband, cutting his clothes to pieces

A woman, Hafsa Ibrahim, has been remanded by a Shari’a court sitting at Rijiyar Lemu, Kano State, for allegedly assaulting her husband, Jamilu Muhammad and cutting 90 sets of his clothes to pieces because she suspected him of chatting with other women on his phone.

The prosecutor, Usman Shuaibu Dala, told the court that Hafsa injured her husband by hitting him in the head with a local pressing iron, used scissors to cut 90 sets of his clothes to pieces and seized his handset worth N80,000.

However, Hafsa denied the allegations.

The Khadi, Umar Sunusi Dan Baba, adjourned the case to December 11, 2023.
