Anambra: Uche Ekwunife set to join APC after losing senatorial race

A former Senator representing Anambra Central senatorial district is reportedly poised to officially join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, pending any unforeseen changes.

Sources close to the lawmaker told Anambra People that her alignment with the APC aims to solidify her political ambitions.

Speculations arise regarding her potential motives within the party, with unconfirmed rumours hinting at her interest in vying as Senator Ifeanyi Uba’s running mate in the upcoming 2025 Anambra off-season gubernatorial election.

Ekwunife, 52, recontested for her Senate seat in the 2023 general elections but lost to Senator Victor Umeh of the Labour Party.

She is currently the Director-General of the Southeast Governors’ Forum and was a member of the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2015.
