A mother of nine has allegedly ended her own life in Warri, Delta State.

The unfortunate incident occurred at Enamejewa Street, off Warri/Sapele Road in the early hours of Monday, November 6, 2023.

According to the GLONAT, the septuagenarian hanged herself with her wrapper in a public toilet of the compound where she lived.

Though fingers are pointing at the economic hardship as the probable cause of her action, factual reasons the woman took the drastic step are still unknown as of Tuesday.

The woman was an indigene of Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state and was described as a devout Catholic faithful.

It was further gathered from locals that she had allegedly earlier threatened to take her life to the hearing of her children.

The woman had earlier attempted to take her life by drinking a poisonous substance the previous day but was not successful.

Sources told the publication that one of her little granddaughters raised the alarm which attracted other tenants and neighbours only to discover a lifeless, dangling body in the toilet.

The septuagenarian body is said to have been deposited in the morgue of the Central Hospital, Warri.
