Mark Zuckerberg undergoes knee surgery after training injury
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg underwent knee surgery on November 4, after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) while training for a competitive mixed martial arts (MMA) tournament early next year.
Zuckerberg confirmed the news in an Instagram post on Friday, November 5.
"Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it," Zuckerberg wrote in the post. "Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me. I'm still planning on competing in a mixed martial arts fight early next year, but I'll have to push it back a bit."
Zuckerberg is a longtime MMA enthusiast and has been training in the sport for several years. He has spoken openly about his passion for MMA and its impact on his life.
"MMA has helped me become a better leader and a better person," Zuckerberg said in a 2022 interview. "It's taught me how to be disciplined, how to set goals, and how to overcome adversity.
