Breaking: Over 200 INEC officials stranded, fight for transport to polling units in Kogi

INEC officials assigned to polling units in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, are presently unable to depart from Ajayi Crowther Memorial School.

It was gathered that the INEC officials had arrived the school to receive electoral materials for the conduct of the November 11 governorship elections in the state.

Among them are corp members and other ad-hoc staff contracted by INEC for the conduct of the election.

It was observed that after the INEC officials received the electoral materials, they were stranded as no means of transportation was provided by the commission to ease their movement to various polling units in the state.

An official was heard informing some officials that the only way they could get to their location was if the voters at the polling units arranged transportation for them.

As at the time of writing this report, only three mini buses were on sight to transport over 200 hundred electoral officials.
