BREAKING: Lagos schools obey NLC order, send students home
In response to the directive issued by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), public schools in Lagos ceased operations on Wednesday, complying with the call for industrial action.
Students from various public primary and secondary schools were observed on the streets, making their way home, while some loitered around school premises.
At a public secondary school in the Mushin area of Lagos, the open gate signaled students leaving the premises, and a group of teachers gathered under a tree for discussions.
A teacher, preferring anonymity, confirmed compliance with the directive from the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), an affiliate of NLC.
The NLC Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Lagos chapter, Adejumo Ismail, stated that both NUT and ASUU (Academic Staff Union of Universities) had pledged to adhere to the directive.
